İlkokul ve Ortaokul Öğrencileri ile Öğretmenlerine Verilen Ağız ve Diş Sağlığı Eğitimlerinin Etkinliğinin Değerlendirilmesi

GİRİŞ ve AMAÇ: Ağız diş sağlığı ile ilgili alışkanlıkların erken dönemde kazanılması önemlidir. Bu çalışmanın amacı öğrencilere ve öğretmenlere verilen ağız-diş sağlığı eğitimlerinin etkinliğinin değerlendirilmesidir.
YÖNTEM ve GEREÇLER: Çalışma ilkokul 2.sınıf (n=732), ortaokul 6.sınıf (n=532) öğrencileri ile öğretmenler (n=39) üzerinde gerçekleştirildi. Öğrenci ve öğretmenlere ağız-diş sağlığı eğitimleri verildi. Etik onayı ve gerekli izinlerin alınmasının ardından katılımcılara ön test ve eğitimin ardından son test uygulandı. Çalışmada elde edilen verilerin istatistiksel analizi SPSS 25,0 programı ile ki-kare testi ve Fisher’ın kesin olasılık testi ile gerçekleştirildi.
BULGULAR: Çalışmaya dahil edilen ilkokul öğrencilerinin %48,6’sı kız, %51,4’ü erkek; ortaokul öğrencilerinin %49,2’sinin kız, %50,8’inin erkek olduğu izlendi. İlkokul öğrencilerine uygulanan testlerde toplam skor ortalamasının ön testte 7,57±1,82; son testte 8,75±1,91 olduğu tespit edildi. Katılımcıların %63,7’sinde (n=466) son testteki toplam skorun ön teste göre artış gösterdiği saptandı. Ortaokul öğrencilerine uygulanan testlerde toplam skor ortalamasının ön testte 7,32±1,63; son testte 8,73±1,68 olduğu tespit edildi. Katılımcıların %70,5’inde (n=375) son testteki toplam skorun ön teste göre artış gösterdiği izlendi. Öğretmenlere uygulanan testlerde toplam skor ortalamasının ön testte 15,56±2,20; son testte 16,97±1,71 olduğu tespit edildi. Katılımcıların %53,8’inde (n=21) son testteki toplam skorun ön teste göre artış gösterdiği izlendi.
TARTIŞMA ve SONUÇ: Pilot okullarda yürütülen bu çalışmanın tüm toplum geneline yayılmasının ağız ve diş sağlığı problemlerinin önüne geçilmesinde etkili olacağı düşünülmektedir.

Assessment of the Effectiveness of Oral and Dental Health Educations Given to Primary and Secondary School Students and Teachers

INTRODUCTION: It is important to acquire oral-dental health habits in the early period of life.This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of oral-dental health educations.
METHODS: This study was carried out on 2nd grade primary school(n=732),6th grade secondary school(n=532) students and teachers(n=39).Oral-dental health education were given after obtaining ethical approval.The participants were given pre-test and posttest forms.Statistical analysis was performed with SPSS 25.0 program using chi-square and Fisher's exact tests.
RESULTS: It was determined that 48.6%of the primary school students were girls while 51.4% were boys.49.2%of secondary school students were girls and 50.8% were boys.The mean total score was 7.57±1.82 on the pre-test and 8.75±1.91 on the post-test of primary school students.It was observed that the total score in the post-test increased by 63.7%(n=466)of the participants.The mean total score was 7.32±1.63 on the pre-test and 8.73±1.68 on the post-test of secondary school students.It was observed that the total score in the post-test increased by 70.5%(n=375)of the participants.The mean total score was 15.56±2.20 on the pre-test and 16.97±1.71 on the post-test of teachers.It was observed that the total score in the post-test increased by 53.8(n=21)of the participants.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: It is thought that it would be beneficial to spread school-based oral-dental health education throughout society.
