Dental Ankylosis: Treatment Alternatives

Dental ankylosis is an eruption abnormality that defines the fusion of tooth root and alveolar bone, caused by damage to the periodontal ligament. The growth of the alveolar process depends on continuous eruption of the teeth. Dentoalveolar ankylosis interferes with the vertical growth of the alveolar process, which can lead to an open bite, an unesthetic smile, infraocclusion of anklosed tooth, tilting of the adjacent teeth, elongation of antagonist teeth, and occlusal disharmony. Dentoalveolar ankylosis is a local factor in the development of malocclusion. In this review, the treatment alternatives of dentoalveolar ankylosis will be discussed in the enlightment of contemporary literature.

Dental Ankiloz: Tedavi Seçenekleri

Dental ankiloz diş kökünün ve alveoler kemiğin periodontal ligamentteki hasarı sonucu kaynaşmasını tanımlayan bir erüpsiyon anomalisidir. Alveoler prosesin büyümesi dişlerin devam eden erüpsiyonuna dayanır. Dentoalveoler ankiloz alveoler prosesin büyümesini durdurarak açık kapanışa, estetik olmayan gülüşe, ankiloz dişin infra-oklüzyonuna, komşu dişlerin devrilmesine, antagonist dişlerin uzamasına ve oklüzal düzensizliğe yol açar. Dentoalveoler ankiloz maloklüzyon oluşumunda lokal bir faktördür. Bu derlemede, dentoalveoler ankilozun tedavi seçenekleri güncel literatür ışığında ele alınacaktır.
