Peripheral Osteoma of the mandible: Case Report

Osteomas, are benign, slow growing osteogenic tumors commonly occurring in the craniofacial bones. It can be of a central, peripheral, or a extraskeletal type. The peripheral type arises from periosteum and is rarely in the mandible. Due to their slow growth, osteomas of the maxillofacial bones remain asymptomatic until they attain sufficient sizes as to cause disfigurement and interference with normal function of their anatomic location. Two cases of peripheal osteoma both located in the body of the mandible one in the lingual other in the buccal side was reported.

Mandibulada Periferal Osteom: Olgu Sunumu

Osteomlar genellikle kraniyofasiyal bölgede nadir olarak da çene kemiklerine yerleşen, yavaş büyüyen benign osteojenik tümörlerdir. Periferal, endosteal ve ekstraiskeletsel tipleri bulunmaktadır. Periferal osteom, periosttan köken alırlar ve nadiren mandibula yerleşim gösterir. Yavaş büyümeleri nedeniyle çene yüz bölgesindeki osteomlar deformite oluşturacak ve yerleşim gösterdikleri bölgeye göre fonksiyon bozukluğuna sebep olacak boyutlara ulaşana kadar semptom vermezler. Makalede mandibuler korpusta, biri bukkal ve diğeri lingual yüzlerde yerleşmiş iki periferal osteom olgusu sunulmaktadır.
